Best of our TU Community Blogs, April 7, 2016: Ten for Thursday

There’s an idea floating around, and I think it’s an amazing idea.

Imagine if you were at an event where the Times Union’s community bloggers held a public reading of their best blog posts.  Wouldn’t that be a great event?  You could meet these great bloggers and raconteurs, you could hear from their own voices the words they’ve scripted and conscripted.  It could be at a library lobby, or at a coffee house, or at a pizza parlor, it wouldn’t matter.

This would be fun.

And I definitely hope it would happen, if for no other reason than I believe you should enjoy not only these blogs itself, but also hearing the bloggers describe how they came up with the concepts, how they were inspired, and how they found ways to transfer these words from concepts to concrete.

So let’s check out this week’s batch of ten (yeah right, Chuck said ten) blog posts by the Times Union’s community and independent bloggers, shall we?

Starting with…

  1. Sara Rose Wheeler’s “Roaring Twenties” blog, “A letter to tissues.(Read this first.)
  2. Walter Ayres’ “Faith in the Public Square” blog, “Now they tell us.
  3. Ken Screven’s blog, “And then I tossed a bourbon Manhattan in his face.
  4. Andrew Gregory in the “CRUMBS Local Music” blog, “Big Boi and Phantogram Get Their Big Grams Animated for Adult Swim.
  5. Rachel Baum’s “Bark: Confessions of a Dog Trainer” blog, “Not my dog.
  6. Albany City Councilman Judd Krasher’s blog, “Albany should learn from Washington.
  7. Antonio Civitella’s blog, “PechaKucha.
  8. Michael Rivest’s blog, “The Brothers … and the future (part 3).
  9. David Kalish’s “The Ruminator” blog, “My daughter says I look like a drunk dying lizard.
  10. Lale Davidson’s “Out of the Ordinary” blog, “Academic language is ugly.
  11. Nina Marinello’s blog, “Bathing Suit Science.

  15. Lawrence White’s “Field of View” blog, “Saratoga Springs Passes Gun Safety Law.
  16. Frank Robinson’s “Rational Optimist” blog, “What America needs: more competition.

And there you have it.  Ten great blogs by ten great TU community and independent bloggers.  You know what… these blogs – and many others on the TU portal – would make for a great “public reading” night out.

You know you’d enjoy it.

I guarantee it.

Have a great day, everybody!
