The Daily Gazette loves my Hoffman’s Playland sign

A few weeks ago, I finished my re-creation of the iconic Hoffman’s Playland sign.  I hope to enter this picture as one of my submissions for BUILT, Historic Albany Foundation’s charitable auction and fundraiser.  And for a lark, I posted the picture on the social media site reddit.

Hey, remember when I said that I have a love-hate relationship with the social media site reddit?

What I’m about to tell you right now isn’t hate.

Someone saw my artwork and contacted me about it.

And that “someone” was a reporter from the Schenectady Gazette.

I filled him in on what I did, how long it took, and why I recreated the Hoffman’s Playland sign (along with mentioning my previous re-creations of the Olympic Bar, Bob & Ron’s Fish Fry and L-Ken’s signs).

On Sunday, I’m trying to arrange an upcoming date night.  The response back was, “I didn’t know you were famous.”

Dang, I thought I removed all those wanted posters from the post offices …

“My family saw a story about you in the Gazette.”

Ah.  This is good.

By the way, if you want to read the article, it’s at this link.

So yeah, I hope that this Hoffman’s Playland sign (along with two other creations) will find a time to shine at BUILT.

I really do.

Because creating these artworks – the things that represent our city and our heritage – is a fun project for me and I enjoy doing it every single time.

This is fun.
