As the headline mentions, Revolution Hall is undergoing some changes in their Monday night trivia setups.
First off, trivia has moved up from a 9pm start to an 8pm start. Since the NFL’s regular season has endd, and Monday Night Football won’t be shown on the big Rev Hall digital projection screen, instead we get a digital slideshow that puts the questions and answers on the big screen as the hosts read them.
Since Revolution Hall’s operations have been taken over by Brown’s Brewing, the adjacent restaurant-brew pub, there are some changes ahead. Last night, prizes were handed out for the first-place, second-place, third-place and fourth-place finishers, and there wsa even a prize for the halftime leader of the night.
However, that wasn’t Street Academy. Yes loyal readers, there are times when my trivia team just didn’t have the cards falling in the right pattern. One of the rounds that absolutely killed Street Academy was a “Lyrics” round, where the hosts Mark and Anthony read lyrics as if they were poetry in a coffeehouse. Anthony read the lyrics – which could be from any song ever recorded – while Mark played on the bongos. While I appreciate a lyrics round, it would have given us a fairer fight had the lyrics been maybe ten songs from one artist or ten songs from a particular song genre, rather than ten sons from any time in the whole wide world.
Of course, that’s also taking into account that of the ten lyrics recited, I was only able to identify three of them. Which essentially put Street Academy out of the running for any post-game prizes.
But tonight will be different. It is again another change, I will be returning to one of the trivia parlors where I have achieved success – the rebranded Wolf’s 1-11, formerly the restaurant and bar known as Old Chicago. Trivia’s back on Tuesday nights there, 730pm first question, and General James is hosting. I hope to see all the teams that played at Old Chicago back in the day at Wolf’s 1-11, including such unique sobriquets as Granny’s One-Night Stand, Teaching Hung Over, My Couch Pulls Out, Two Fat Guys, IDK, Team Ramrod, and all the rest.
Wolf’s 1-11 will also be the site of Trivia Bowl 6, where the top trivia teams will lay in a one-day tournament to lay claim to the championship chalice. I’ve already heard from two teams who were at Rev Hall last night – Surf Tulsa and Blue Mooned – that they received their invites to Trivia Bowl 6. So add them to the past Trivia Bowl champions Lynch’s Mob, Street Academy, Stern Fans and Sh#tload, who will compete that Saturday afternoon.
Let’s hope that in Trivia Bowl, they don’t add a lyrics round to the game.
We were excited to find out that Trivia would be coming to Wolf’s 1-11. Sadly I don’t think we are going to be able to make it out tonight. With the new addition to our family last year, we need to find more babysitters! 🙂 Hope to get out there soon and Chris and I will be sure to swing by and say hello!

Kristie – congratulations on the new addition. Does this mean your team name is now Great-Granny’s One Night Stand? 🙂 All the best and hope to see you later this year at Wolf’s 1-11!

LOL…I guess it could be Great-Granny’s One Night Stand…but it is looking like it was more than one night! 🙂
Good news! We found a babysitter! Good thing our family knows how much we have missed trivia!
See you tonight!

Yes, it was a painful lyrics round last week. Let’s hope they don’t make it a tradition at Rev Hall. 😀
