Revolution Hall Monday Night Trivia goes away after this coming Monday

Conan O’Brien got better treatment.

Here’s the situation.  Back around September or so, Brown’s Brew Pub moved their Wednesday night trivia games to Monday nights at Revolution Hall.  Marc Palozzi and Anthony Chiera were hired to replace Zack Hilton as trivia hosts, and people could watch the Monday Night Football game on a big screen while trivia questions were being asked.

It worked for a while, but apparently with the new change in ownership (Brown’s now owns Revolution Hall), the Monday night trivia game is being temporarily discontinued.  Plans are still being discussed as to whether to move trivia to another night, or to move it back to Brown’s, or to cancel trivia in that location for the foreseeable future.

Needless to say, I’m not happy about the change in plans.  But I can see why the ownership group is shuttering trivia for the time being.  By moving it to Revolution Hall, trivia was being played in a building without a kitchen – there was a menu of chicken wings, chicken tenders, loaded fries and other eats, but they had to be shuttled over from Brown’s.

The prizes changed from week to week – sometimes teams would receive prizes after every ten questions, other nights it would be only after 20 questions, other nights 30 questions.  Sometimes the prizes were Revolution Hall concert tickets; sometimes the prizes were T-shirts or hats.  One night there was the opportunity to earn two Phish concert tickets, and the place was more tightly packed than Dolly Parton in Paris Hilton’s wardrobe.

But they still needed to work on things.  And it’s not like the hosts didn’t do their best to keep things entertained.  When Monday Night Football ended, Marc and Anthony put the questions up on the big screen.  And you’ve got to have some serious cojones to not only write a round of ten questions called “Guess What We’re Singing,” but for the hosts to actually take the microphone and make absolute fools of themselves – all for the entertainment of the crowd – that says something.

So what do the fans of trivia at Rev Hall do at this point?

There are options.  You can contact Brown’s Brewing directly, letting them know your feelings about trivia at Rev Hall – do you want it moved back to the second floor of Brown’s Taproom, do you want it back at Rev Hall, but on a different night, do you want different questions, do you want different hosts, what do you want, let them know.

You can also patronize several different trivia locales throughout the Capital District, many of which can be found on the trivianightslive.com website.

And finally, you can show up this Monday, February 8, at 8pm at Revolution Hall and play one more round of competitive team trivia.

Makes sense, don’t it?
