Don’t get the lead singer of KISS mad

I say this because apparently there’s some YouTube clips of Paul Stanley getting very cheezed off in concert.

First off, some background.  I’ve seen two KISS concerts in my lifetime, and both of them were at the arena downtown.  The first show was during KISS’ reunion tour, and featured the classic lineup of Gene Simmons, Paul Stanley, Ace Frehley and Peter Criss.  Excellent show.  And in case you were curious, no I did not paint my face (although I probably would look good rocking the StarChild makeup), but I can tell you that the crowd was approximately 40% Paul-painted, 40% Gene-painted, 10% Ace-painted, 8% Peter painted and I swear there were at least three people made up like Eric Carr.  No Vinnie Vincents that night.

The second time I saw them was during their “Psycho Circus” tour, and again it was the classic lineup.  I had a good time at both shows.

Now you figure that when it comes to a KISS concert, there are some very simple rules.

1. Have fun.

2. Enjoy the music.

3. Don’t get Paul Stanley mad.

Apparently this happened during the Psycho Circus tour, some clown in the audience decided to bring one of those hand-held laser pens to a KISS concert.  Paul Stanley was not impressed.

Now there’s plenty of times during rock concerts when some concertgoer acts like a fool and does something stupid, and the band sees this and has security chase the guy away.

Like this concert footage from a Tim McGraw concert, where he sees a fan starting a fight in the front row, calls security to get the fan tossed out.

Here’s one from 2009. Hayley Williams, the lead singer of Paramore, gets a little annoyed with the sea of No Doubt fans in the audience at Turning Stone Casino. Yeah, at the time Paramore was opening for No Doubt, but still, she has some time to play with the No Doubt fans in the audience.

This is an audio clip only, it’s Geddy Lee from the band Rush admonishing fans who get too close to the stage. At no time does he suggest they take off, hoser.

Here’s one of Axl Rose from Guns ‘n Roses tossing a fan out of the building. Probably tossed him out for returning a copy of Chinese Democracy.

And don’t even think of cheezing off Akon. He might just bring you up on stage…

and toss your sorry self OFF the stage!
