Last month, I donated a couple of my framed photographic artworks to the art auction to benefit Tess’ Lark Tavern.Β While I was there, I talked with various artists, buyers and attendees.Β It was part networking, part observation, and a lot of fun for a good cause.Β One of the people I spoke with was Meghan Murphy, whom I knew from behind the counter at Stuyvesant Photo.
Now a few days ago, I posted some of my “polar panorama” photographs – polar panoramas being artistic renderings that look as if you’ve created a series of buildings atop a solitary planet.
I received some positive posts on the subject, including one from the Times-Union’s Kacey Bruce.Β She had wanted to see more of these photos.
Well, more of those photos – including the opportunity to purchase them – are going to happen.
Several of my “polar panorama” photographs – including shots of the Empire State Plaza, the Corning Preserve, and Nipper overlooking the Albany skyline – are now part of an upcoming art show at the 440 Art Center, in the lobby of Proctors’ Theater in Schenectady – as part of Schenectady’s Art Night.

Essentially my work, along with the work of several other artists, will be part of a group show curated by Meghan Murphy, who was so impressed with the photos I showed her at Stuyvesant Photo that she wanted my shots in the art show and wouldn’t take “no” for an answer.
I still can’t believe it.Β My photos are going to be in an art gallery.
Oh man, what to do, what to do.Β I had to go through all the polar panorama shots I’ve taken – which include several that I haven’t even posted to my flickr site or blogged about – and get them ready.Β They needed to be printed out.Β They needed to be foam-cored after printing.Β And then I needed to make sure they were cataloged and ready.
Nipper polar panorama?Β That’ll be there.
Lighthouse polar panorama?Β Yeps.
Plus there will be other polar panoramas I took of several other Capital District and upstate New York locations.Β I’ve got polar panoramas of everywhere from the Empire State Plaza to the Mt. Ida Falls, and I’m checking each one over to see if they’re gallery-worthy.
I’ll keep you updated as the gallery opening date gets closer.Β Woo hoo!
Congratulations!!! That’s great news.
Please keep us posted as I will let my friend Bob from Nikon know too. He loved the Nipper picture and told you so!
