Again, I started messing around with black and white filters… trying to control the black and white image into more than just point the camera and press the shutter button. These photos were taken with my Nikkormat FTn camera, 50mm f/1.4 adjustable lens. I switched between a Tiffen 85B orange filter, a Bower Red filter, and a light green filter – as well as photographing with no filter at all.
I used “efke” KB-25 film for the pictures, as well as a tripod and manual shutter release to keep the photos as sharp as possible.
Photos were taken on September 5, 2010. Essentially the photos were taken along some of the Pine Bush trails in the early afternoon. Hope you enjoy the photos. All photos (c) Chuck Miller.

Smart work, using filters is a basic way to make certain subjects stand out and minimize others, that was a good lesson from Photo 101. Nobody bothers too much these days, since ditial B&W is processed anyway and the same effects can be done with a couple sliders. It would be fun to pull out the old color filters, toss a k-mount lens on the digital rebel, and put it in monochrome mode.
