This is bad. Very very bad.
If the rumors I received are to be believed, the University at Albany will be holding a press conference today at 2:30 p.m. regarding more fallout from the Kegs and Eggs riot a couple of weeks ago, as well as the negative publicity regarding the recent Fountain Day protest and Chris Schewe’s stunt of chaining himself to the fountains.
And this time, it could affect the name of UAlbany’s sports teams.
Originally the college’s sports teams contained the nickname of the Pedagogues, but the name was changed in 1963 to the Great Danes. However, after the name change was made official, the college was contacted by legendary Danish pianist and comedian Victor Borge, who claimed that he had trademarked the name “The Great Dane” in reference to his comedy career. The University agreed to pay a licensing fee to Borge in exchange for the rights to use the name “Great Danes” as their team nickname; this agreement is similar to the one brokered by the University of Oregon with The Walt Disney Company; that agreement allows Oregon to use Donald Duck as their team’s official mascot.
Although Borge passed away in 2000, his estate, managed by his five children, continued to work with the University at Albany to license the name “Great Danes” as UAlbany’s official sports team nickname. However, in a statement released through the Victor Borge website, a spokesperson for The Victor Borge Trust and Estate decried the recent “Kegs and Eggs” riot. “The Estate of Victor Borge is extremely displeased by the actions of the students at the University of Albany,” said spokesperson Børge Rosenbaum. “Mr. Borge was a gentle and kind man, and it would have offended him to see his nickname, ‘The Great Dane,’ which he graciously shared with the University at Albany, to be so sullied by such a despicable act. With this in mind, we are hereby contacting the President of the University at Albany, informing him that we will no longer license the wordmark “The Great Danes,” or any variation thereof, in association with the University.”
The action taken by the Victor Borge Trust and Estate, if upheld, could effectively mean that UAlbany would operate without a stylized team nickname for the 2011-2012 school year; it would also mean that the school could not use the words “Great Danes” on clothing, souvenirs or other paraphernalia. The University is scheduled to hold a press conference this afternoon at 2:30 p.m., and will discuss the matter and their future options.

As many of weeze waz from Staten Island, Pedagogues was good enough. However, you fail to mention that Milne School’s teams were the “Little Professors”.
