A month or so ago, I tried to mess around with Polaroid’s 35mm instant slide films, including the blue-white contrasting film PolaBlue. My first test results weren’t all that spectacular, and I was about to give up on the project entirely.
Then I found another couple of canisters of both PolaBlue and PolaChrome film, and thought – you know what, I can’t just give up with this film. Maybe I caught a bad batch. Maybe I didn’t have the right settings. Maybe that Nikkormat FTn wasn’t the best camera to shoot this stuff with.
So this time I loaded a fresh cartridge of PolaBlue film into my new Nikon F100. Thursday morning and afternoon, I took the camera through downtown Albany and shot a few things here and there.
Brought the cartridge home, developed it – yes, the film comes with its own developing kit and I have a mechanical developer – and here’s what I got from the cartridge this time. Now granted, I could airbrush those red smudges out, but maybe I’ll do that at another time.

Today I’m posting the PolaBlue. Tomorrow I’m posting the PolaChrome, along with a very interesting “comparison” shot.
