Summer Bowl II: The Teams are Announced

This Sunday, the top trivia teams will compete in the invite-only Summer Bowl II Trivia Tournament at the Recovery Sports Bar and Grille in Troy.

The winning team receives the “Silver Shaker” Award as champions of trivia, and their team name and teammates’ names are carved into the trophy base, and they receive the people’s ovation and fame forever.  Okay, I copped the last two references from Iron Chef, but it’s the same kind of feeling.  It’s the claret jug to the Trivia Bowl’s green jacket.

As past Summer Bowl champions, my Street Academy team – me, Jeremy McNamara and Alexis Curry – receive an automatic lifetime invitation to the Summer Bowl.  So which team hopes to take the trivia trophy away from us?  Well, here are the list of entries.

Now here’s a surprise.  Several “legacy” teams are not on this list.  Lynch’s Mob (Trivia Bowl champions ’05, 06) declined an invitation to Summer Bowl, as did current Trivia Bowl champions Stop the Bus.  And the Skidmarks aren’t represented?  Wow.  No matter.  That’s just three less teams to worry about.

Some of these teams “played their way in” by winning at various Recovery Sports Bar and Grille Wednesday night tournaments; while other teams were given “at large” invitations to the game.

The contest starts Sunday at 1pm at the Recovery Sports Bar in Troy.  I hope to see everyone there.
