I think it’s appropriate for me to take this moment and thank all of you – my blog readers and my fellow bloggers – for all the kind words and support you’ve provided in what has undoubtedly been one of the toughest and most devastating moments a father can ever imagine.
As you know, my daughter Cassaundra has been in the hospital, recovering from what undoubtedly has been the worst decision anyone can make when they can’t imagine any other decision that COULD be made. Thankfully, she has recovered enough that she can now, tentatively but assuredly, move forward with her life. This isn’t going to be easy – the decisions she makes now will be measured against her previous choices and decisions – but I know that although she thinks she was alone, she realizes now that she has friends and supporters all over the world.
She and I have talked over the phone, and she’s going to take some time to re-evaluate her choices and what this new chance for life will have on her. I’m just extremely grateful that I have HAD an opportunity to speak with her, without requiring a person-to-Ouija board connection.
And to everybody who posted a kind word of support, either on this blog, on my Facebook page, or in person – thank you. I hope that no parent ever has to go through this feeling of loneliness and hurt and pain and sorrow. And I hope that no son or daughter ever has to feel that there’s nobody they can turn to in a crisis like this. Your words, your prayers, your support have kept me going through this.
And again… thank you.
