No, this isn’t the Polar Express… but it could be the Midnight Meat Train…

Yesterday I grabbed several different cameras – my Nikon D700 digital, my Nikon F100 35mm shooter, my Rolleiflex Automat MX 120 shooter, and my Agfa Chief 616 shooter – for a day of photography through the North Country.

And while my film shots are currently getting dunked and dipped at McGreevy Pro Lab, at least the digital shots came through without any trouble.  Here’s a couple of them, and it makes me kinda worry about the state of traveling the rails in this day and age.

I don’t know what route this “Scenic Train Ride” takes through the North Country, but I’m suspecting it’s traveled one time too often during hunting season.  That, or this car’s last trip was through downtown Beirut.

And of course, let’s follow this up with another passenger car – this one, also on the same track, had some cryptic messages on its door.

Now you may not be able to see the door very well in this picture… so I blew the picture up for you.

Yep, that’s the word “HELP” scratched into the door, along with what look like handprints and sneaker prints.  I’m guessing that this door was kicked in.

What, you think I’m going to go in there and find out what’s happened?  I ain’t going in there without backup.  And judging from the situation, I think I’d need Alistair Overeem as my backup.

Plus, although these trains aren’t being used, my entering them would constitute trespassing.  And I don’t feel like starting off the New Year by bugging my friends to post my bail.
