Grabbing the golf clubs for charity…

I’m ready.  Stephanie‘s ready.  Jeannine‘s ready.  And Jason‘s ready.

We’re ready for the first ever Times Union Community Bloggers Minigolf Tournament.

On May 12, we four community bloggers will take the course at FunPlex in East Greenbush for a round of miniature golf – with the goal of raising money for four separate Capital District charities.  From now until tee-off time, we encourage you to help our cause by donating whatever you can to any of four different Capital District charities.

Jeannine Trimboli, she of the Real [Fit] Life blog, will raise money for the local chapter of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.

Jason Purvis, who blogs about his cute little daughter Abbi (and the Purvis that’s on his/her way), will raise money for the Capital District Habitat for Humanity.

Stephanie Snyder, she of the popular “A Professor’s Wife” blog, will golf to raise money for the American Heart Association.

And I hope to raise money for the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life.

So here’s how it works.

The four of us encourage you to donate whatever you can, whatever you are able, to any one of our four charities.  The link to a webpage that contains all four charitable links, as well as the reasons why we’re asking for your contributions, can be found here.  Any donation, no matter what size or amount, will benefit those who are less fortunate and will help find a cure, raise a roof, develop a treatment and build a better world.

Additionally, the four of us will contribute our own money in a pot on May 12, the day of the tournament – and the golfer with the lowest score in a round of good ol’ fashioned miniature golf will add that total to his or her charity.  So we’re not only encouraging you to donate, we’re also putting up our own money as well.

Oh yeah… and there’s a third option out there.  We are more than willing to offer and accept reasonable “challenge” bets.  In other words, Jason’s already said he’ll donate some money to my charity if I wear a Tim Tebow jersey and post a picture of it on my blog.  We’re certainly going to encourage good-natured charitable challenges from you as well, so feel free to suggest and we will consider all reasonable suggestions.

We also encourage you to come out to FunPlex in East Greenbush on May 12th as the four of us put our proverbial monies where our mouths are – and let’s all give our time and talents, to help others in need.

And I’ve got one final word for my minigolf competitors today…
