First things first. Vote with your heart and vote with your mind. Don’t vote because I told you to or I didn’t tell you too. Whether you’re voting for President or for who wins American Idol, vote for whom you want to win.
Okay. Now that that’s out of the way…
Daniel Berman is trying to make a difference in the Times Union “Best of” poll, and he’s gotten pretty far with his efforts. He’s been able to convince the TU to add or modify various categories, so that divergent restaurants aren’t stuck competing in a generic, over-reaching category. So for that, we can thank Daniel.
That being said, his FUSSYlittleBLOG is offering the FUSSYlittleBALLOT 3.0, in which he suggests various choices and write-in candidates for the Times Union’s Best of 2012 online poll. His choices include everything from the best grocery store (he likes Hannaford), to Best Hamburger (he suggests writing in Max London’s in Saratoga Springs).
I suggest you loyal readers of my blog go visit Daniel’s FUSSYlittleBLOG and consider his choices in the TU Best Of poll. I don’t agree with every one of them – come on, Wolff’s Biergarten as best sports bar? Over Graney’s or the Ruck or any of the Recovery Rooms? – but at least he’s put some serious thought into the ballot, and you should look at his choices before making your own.
Oh, and by the way…
Please join Stephanie Snyder, Jeannine Trimboli, Jason Purvis and me for the first ever Times Union Community Bloggers Minigolf Tournament. We’re golfing to raise money for various charities, and you can donate to our charities by visiting this page..
Then join us on May 12, when we take on the miniature golf course at FunPlex Fun Park in East Greenbush. We’re going to have a good time, and we encourage you to join us! FORE!!! |

Why am I not surprised that you think stacking a reader’s poll is perfectly acceptable? “Vote with your heart and vote with your mind” and vote the way we tell you to. Okay, Vladimir.
And does Wolff’s still fly a German flag without an American flag above it? Because that would get my vote for #1 Place I Will Never Go.

Dan –
First off, nowhere in my blog do I suggest that you vote exactly the same way that the FUSSYlittleBLOG does. I simply suggest that people consider Daniel Berman’s choices – then make their own decisions. At least if you’ve made your mind up, you can consider what other people might choose, and why they chose them.
And yes, Wolff’s Biergarten still flies a German flag without an American flag above it. Another reason why they’re not on my ballot.

No, you say vote however you like and then link to the other blog where “various choices” are NOT suggested. The whole point of that blogpost plainly states that he wants his readers to vote for his choices. That’s fine if you agree with them, but the principle of it, much like some of my best comments, is distasteful.

I just did the TU poll and it’s disgraceful that this blog isn’t listed. My comments alone should qualify it for a top spot.

D357, don’t flatter yourself too much. Chuck knows that my heart belongs to someone else–and that he and his brothers will never let me leave the kitchen, let alone their family. 🙂
