Okay, on this edition of K-Chuck Radio, I’m going to bring you several audio and video clips from various unknown musicians. Here’s the rules. You need to listen to the clip first… and then try to guess what famous singer or group emerged from this early effort. Ready, set, here we go.
1. This Southern California group was originally called Spectrum…
But then they became the Carpenters.
This Long Island pysch-pop band was called the Hassles…
But the lead singer of this group later became better known as Billy Joel.
Another 90’s rock-pop band that went by the wayside was a group called Y Kant Tori Read.
Or course you might know their lead singer… Tori Amos…
This studio band was called Wind… and they had a Top 40 hit called Make Believe…
Of course, the lead singer of Wind later teamed up with two backup singers and became Tony Orlando and Dawn.
Check out this band called Wicked Lester. “We Wanna Shout It Out Loud” sounds like a nice little pop ballad here, methinks.
Of course, this group would create a different “Shout It Out Loud” when they changed their name to KISS.
Gotta love this piece of California-pop confection from a group called Mother’s Milk. Of course, the song sounds kinda familiar, even if it was originally known as “San Francisco Day.”
Of course, we know this song as “Hitch A Ride” and we know Mother’s Milk as the group Boston.
And here’s a good one. This Australian video clip shows a band called the Twilights. The lead singer might sound familiar…
Especially when the lead singer – Glenn Shorrock – was one of the main vocalists for Little River Band.
And one more Oz video clip… this is a group called Fraternity. And check out the prog-rock flautist/vocalist in this clip…
Yeps. That’s Bon Scott in one of his pre-AC/DC bands.
Maybe one of these days I’ll do a K-Chuck Radio asking you to identify clips by artists AFTER they were hitmakers. I’ll think about it…
