I still remember the sandwiches. They were a staple in our house – heck, I think my entire family ate them at one point or another.
And the other day, when I was in the grocery store – I don’t even know why I was walking down that particular aisle in the first place – but there it was, and I saw it. A big red-lidded jar of marshmallow Fluff. And you know as well as anyone else out there… that you don’t serve marshmallow Fluff straight.
No you don’t. You go to the pantry and you get a jar of peanut butter – creamy is preferred, although I do recall some kids have an affinity for the crunchy peanut butter – and slather two slices of white bread with the confections. And voila – you now have a Fluffernutter sandwich. Now whether or not I can get DerryX or the FUSSYlittleBLOG to participate some day in a “Tour de Fluffernutter,” or whether Brown’s Brewing in Troy would ever make “Fluffernutter” as a selectable choice for their “Wing Sauce of the Day” offering – hey look, they offered “peanut butter and banana” wings last week, so I don’t put ANYTHING past them…
Even if two of the top four ingredients in marshmallow Fluff are high fructose corn syrup and sugar… and you can now get raspberry and strawberry-flavored Fluff… you can’t go wrong with a big jar of marshmallow Fluff and some tasty peanut butter.

1968 – Balch Elementary School. Norwood, MA – Fluffernutters (on Wonderbread) were a perfect lunch table ‘trade’ for Danny Pascucci’s Meatball subs that his mom lovingly made for him every day. His mom would’ve killed him if she ever found out.

Bomba’s makes peanut butter and fluffernutter wings. I’ve never tried them though. Although I love peanut butter and fluff sandwiches, I’m not sure how it would be with chicken.

I definitly had a fluffernutter yesterday, and it was amazing! I was feeding sandwhichs to a bunch of high school students and the fluff was the first thing to go! Some of them had never had it before. It was definitly a delicious trip down memory lane!

Actually sometimes used to put a small scoop of fluff on my Cinnamon Toast Crunch cereal. My pancreas didn’t know what hit it. For my ‘nutter, always thought honey, banana and peanut butter were better, which is called a “teddy bear.”

What would a tour of Fluffernutter entail? Different peanut butters with fluff? Different bread? There are other brands of “Marshmallow topping.” Different brands?
If you really like Fluff/Marshmallow Topping, Wolfs 111 serves it as a dipping sauce for their sweet potato fries. It’s not totally terrible, but the novelty wears off after 5 fries.

Since jelly is mostly sugar, I don’t think a Fluffernutter is all that much worse than a regular PB&J. Its sort of vanilla-corn syrup jelly, instead of grape or strawberry.
I never cared for Fluff in sandwich form, I preferred to eat it straight out of the container. Regular marshamallow creme is not as good, it doesn’t have all the air incorporated in it, which makes the Fluff give off a funny squishy noise when you eat a big spoonful. And I quit cold turkey about 5 years ago. I still miss it.

Ugh so gross. I have an aversion to Fluff ever since I got really since with the flu shortly after having some. Some sort of mental block in my mind prevents me from eating it. I know it didn’t make me sick, but I can’t imagine eating it again.

I lived on fluffernutter sandwiches while pregnant with my one daughter and to this day the very thought makes me gag lol but sure did love them at that time.

Actually the ingredients of Fluff are: Corn Syrup, Sugar, Dried Egg White, Vanillin.
I grabbed those right off the Wegman’s website, which is generally pretty accurate. Corn syrup and HFCS are two very different things. With only four ingredients it’s surprisingly sensible. I only wish that they used real vanilla extract and that they continued to package it in a glass jar.
The new plastic jar just feels cheap and classless. And I’m refusing to buy it until the change back. While I wait, I’ve been contemplating making my own fluff at home. It’s sticky, but I’m stubborn.
We’ll see. If it happens, I’ll make sure to keep you posted.
