Results of the 2012 Times Union Community Bloggers Minigolf Tournament

It was an absolutely beautiful day at FunPlex Fun Park; the sun shone through the azure-blue Saturday skies and everyone at the park was having a great time.

As were Stephanie Snyder, Jason Purvis and myself – as we competed in the inaugural Times Union Community Bloggers Minigolf Tournament.

Prior to the event, the three of us raised money for our various charities, and in the spirit of good sportsmanship, we also personally donated to each individual charity.  But now the money was on the line – which charity would receive an additional contribution, based on the golf scores that Saturday?

Let’s put it this way.  The three of us – had a great round of golf.  There were a few shots that went off the course (Jason), a couple of shots that rolled up the hill and rolled back down to the tee (I think I did that at least three times), and a couple of balls that ended up in the rocks (and to Stephanie’s credit, she hit the ball out of the rocky lies).

In the end, I ended up taking the win with an 18-hole 72 (only 18 over par), while Jason finished with a 73.  Stephanie requested that her score not be posted due to the fact that no one should have a golf score THAT HIGH.  So the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life charity received an additional donation from my fellow golfers.

And let me say this – FunPlex is a great place to take your family for an enjoyable afternoon.  Besides the minigolf course, the place has batting cages, a rock wall, go-karts and other exciting accoutrements.  And my sincere thanks to Stephanie Snyder and Jason Purvis for participating in this great charity event.

And if you would still like to make a donation to any of the charities, you can do so by visiting this page..
