Let me explain what’s going on here. So many fantastic songs have been forgotten over time – major radio hits that have drifted into the ethereal memories. They barely receive any airplay on the oldies stations, and if anyone does mention these singers or their songs, it’s always with a tinge of “I think I remember that song, that big hit they had years ago…”
On today’s edition of K-Chuck Radio, I want to take you back to the 1970’s, back when singers sang, musicians played their instruments, and we all bought 45’s and LP’s, maybe even cassettes and 8-track tapes. And we enjoyed this music and we listened to it on our phonographs every day.
Just like these big hits of the past, which we barely hear today.
BILLY PRESTON AND SYREETA
With You I’m Born Again
I remember hearing this song in high school, and this slow jam ballad can still make any person’s heart completely melt.
A TASTE OF HONEY
Sukiyaki
Okay, everybody knows A Taste of Honey from their smash hit “Boogie Oogie Oogie,” right? But do you remember this remake of the 1960’s Japanese worldwide hit “Sukiyaki”? If you don’t… listen now. It’s so fantastic…
FAT LARRY’S BAND
Zoom
Fat Larry’s Band was one of my favorite dance bands from the late 70’s-early 80’s era. And then they snapped off this absolutely fantastic slow ballad called “Zoom” that just caught me and wouldn’t let go. Just wouldn’t let go.
ABC
All of My Heart
If you remember ABC from their hits “The Look of Love” and “When Smokey Sings,” you gotta listen to this New Romantic track from their debut album, The Lexicon of Love This was a worldwide hit, and even got a few spins on top 40 radio in the States.
THE CAPTAIN AND TENNILLE
Do That To Me One More Time
What an amazing song by one of the greatest pop music duos of the 1970’s. You might remember their big hit “Love Will Keep Us Together,” but you can not deny the existence of this sweet classic.
PAUL DAVIS
I Go Crazy
I remember hearing this song OVER AND OVER AND OVER on every Capital District radio station. Now I don’t hear it any more. Not once. What a shame. Such a beautiful ballad needs to be heard every time.
RUSSELL MORRIS
Sweet Sweet Love
The legendary Australian singer / songwriter had several major hits Down Under, and this was one of his most memorable. If this song had just received one spin on an American radio station… they wouldn’t have stopped playing it EVER.
MICHAEL JACKSON
One Day In Your Life
Think about this for a moment. This was Michael Jackson in his innocent, romantic, suave 1970’s era. This was pure genius and pure sweetness.
NILSSON
Without You
Harry Nilsson was a vocal master. And his cover of the Badfinger track “Without You” is like a master class for every hairbrush-as-a-microphone singer who ever dreamed of being a star.
ERIC CARMEN
All By Myself
If Rachmaninoff were alive today, I believe he would be impressed with what Eric Carmen did to his original Piano Concerto #2. Here’s a rare clip of Carmen performing the entire song, including the Piano Concerto. Don’t miss this.
I hope that every one of these ballads brought back some fantastic memories for you… considering that most of these legendary tracks have disappeared from the oldies stations. You can hear them now. Today. And whenever you want. Here on K-Chuck Radio.
I love every one of these! so many memories!!!

I LOVE that Nilsson song. I always associate it sonically with the Carmen song.

Wow chuck another home run! “i Go Crazy” spent 40 weeks on the top one hundred
you would think it would be played more. I do catch it on sat radio occasionally,
Ok a challenge for Mr. Trivia, name his 2 other hits?
Heres a hint, last one went to #2 on the ac chart in 1982. You seem like an honest guy that wouldn’t use wikipedia for answers…..

Well, I do remember he had a hit called ’65 Love Affair, and I think there was a cover of the Jarmels’ “A Little Bit of Soap” that got some international play.

Not bad, 65 is correct, the second would be “cool night”
