Super Bowl prop bets, 2013 style

Okay everybody… we all know that some coach named Harbaugh will win the Super Bowl this year.  No need to place a bet on that.

But here’s a list of “prop bets” – bets made on everything from the opening coin toss to the results of Super Bowl activities and entertainment – that everybody can have fun betting on.

For example:

  • Who will be the first quarterback mentioned by the announcers during the game that ISN’T playing in Super Bowl XLVII?  Your choices are: Tom Brady, Peyton Manning, Tim Tebow, Eli Manning, Robert Griffin III or Andrew Luck.
  • Will a safety be scored in this year’s Super Bowl? And if so, who will score it?
  • Will there be a kickoff return for a touchdown in the Super Bowl?  And if so, will it be on the opening kickoff?
  • Which team will fumble first?  And will it come off of a pass, a run or a snap?
  • Will Ray Lewis score a touchdown? And if so, will the announcers mention either his Hall of Fame career or the murder trial that followed his last Super Bowl appearance?
  • Will Colin Kaepernick score a rushing touchdown?
  • Who will throw the first interception of the game, Joe Flacco or Colin Kaepernick?
  • What will be the first song Beyoncé sings at the halftime show?
  • During the halftime show, when Destiny’s Child reunites, what will be their first song performed?
  • Who will score more points on Sunday – the winning team in the Super Bowl, or Kobe Bryant, whose Los Angeles Lakers are playing against the Detroit Pistons that same day?
  • Will the first Super Bowl commercial for a beverage be for a beer, a soda or an energy drink?
  • Will the first Super Bowl commercial for a movie be for an action film, a comic book adaptation, a chick flick or a horror film?
  • Which Super Bowl hottie will show more skin in their commercial – Danica Patrick or Kate Upton?
  • When Alicia Keys sings the National Anthem, will her rendition of the song be longer or shorter than two minutes?  And will she hit the high note in “rockets’ red glare,” or will she either be sharp or flat?
  • Who will be the first injured player in the game?  And will it be a leg injury, an arm injury or a concussion?
