Plug tobacco and melted Popsicles

Yes, I’m still up here in beautiful Saint John, New Brunswick.  On moments when I’m not watching the NBL Canada All-Star Skills Competition, I’m walking around downtown, looking for cool things to photograph.

And I found a couple of “things,” and I wanted to share them with you today.

Apparently Saint John has a “ghost sign” or two in their collection, and one such ghost sign involves a long-dormant tobacco product called Shamrock Plug Tobacco.  No, I never heard of it, either.  But I did see the sign alongside a building on Water Street, and heck I had to get a shot of it.

And last night, after leaving the Harbour Station sports arena, I noticed a different type of advertising sign.  Apparently, unbeknownst to me, there’s a Popsicle production factory across the street from the sports arena.  Did not know that.

It was rainy earlier that day, but by night there were a few puddles here and there.  And with that in mind, I got this picture – a reflected shot from the street puddle across from the Popsicle sign.  Hmm.  Melted Popsicles.  Artistic statement?  You tell me.

So here’s the deal.  What you’re seeing in this blog post today are simple photo captures.  And when I get home from my vacation and I load all these photographs into my main computer, with all the digital editing software and whatnot… you know I’m going to put together something even better than what you see today.

What an unforgettable vacation.  Having fun all around.
