Bob Dylan for the win!

Calling Bob Dylan a genius is like calling the sun bright.

And today, on his website, he presents a brand new music video for his decades-old classic “Like a Rolling Stone.”  It’s part of the premiere of his new CD-box collection of his complete Columbia studio recordings.

And you’re saying to me, “Chuck, big deal.  Yeah, yeah, we know, ‘How does it feel,’ great song, so what?”

Here’s what “so what” means.

The video for “Like a Rolling Stone” is presented as if you are watching sixteen different television shows, all of which are synchronized with the lyrics to the song.  That’s right.  You can watch Dylan in a classic 1960’s performance…

Including channels featuring the song as performed in a “Bachelor” ripoff show…

As the soundtrack to a romantic comedy…

As the background music for a tennis match…

On an episode of Pawn Stars

On an episode of The Price is Right…

On a shopping channel…

On a home improvement show…

And by using your up-down arrows on your keyboard, you can switch from program to program, and the music stays synchronized and the program’s actors all keep tight with the lyrics.

What are you waiting for?  Go here and see the video.  Over and over and over again.

It just goes to show you that despite all the other music videos out there in this world… the most creative and smile-inducing music video of the year… is for a song that, for all intents and purposes, is as old as me.

Hee.
