The Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Capital Region are once again sponsoring a trivia contest fundraiser, and here’s how you can participate – and maybe even win some cash and prizes.
This January, there will be four different locations and four different chances for teams to test their knowledge of magnificent minutiae, all to help raise money for Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Capital Region. There will be prizes awarded at each location for the ‘Most Creative Team Name’ and ‘Highest Scoring Team’, and $800 cash to the team that achieves the highest score from all four locations!
Registered teams can show up at one of four Capital District locations to play trivia.
- January 9, 2014 – The Parting Glass Pub, Saratoga Springs
- January 16, 2014 – Bombers Burrito Bar, Schenectady
- January 23, 2014 – Bombers Burrito Bar, Troy
- January 30, 2014 – Wolff’s Biergarten, Albany
Last year, I had a lot of fun participating in the Big Brothers Big Sisters trivia game – we came in third place among all teams competing, and one of my teammates won a tote bag.
But that’s not the main reason why I participate in this fundraiser.
Big Brothers Big Sisters is a very important program. You know how many kids out there need a mentor, someone who can help guide them through all the troubles and travails of growing up? That’s the important function of being a Big Brother or a Big Sister. You’re helping out. You’re providing support and guidance and inspiration to those who need it.
And I’ll support that charity every day. Especially for an organization that in 2014 will be celebrating 50 years of guidance and support in the Capital Region.
So yeah, I’m going to put together a team for this event. And yeah, I hope you put together a team as well. Because it’s not just about playing competitive team trivia. It’s about doing something nice for those who could benefit from it.
