The 12th annual Thacher Park Nature Art Exhibit

And exhibition season 2015 begins.

It took a shot of the heavens, a shot in the cold, and a shot wider than I’ve ever previously achieved, to commit my three entries to the upcoming Thacher Park Nature Art Exhibit.  Last year three of my artworks, including The AGFA Bridge Over Ansco Lake and Waterwish 3, hung on the walls at the Emma Treadwell Thacher Nature Center in Voorheesville.

I just received word that three of my artworks have been accepted for this year’s event, which runs from Saturday, March 7 – Friday, March 27, 2015.  Two of my accepted submissions were photographs that were captured in the Adirondacks.  The third submission, a new, previously unentered entry, was taken only a couple of weeks ago.

The entries for 2015 are:

STAR TRAILS OF BROWN TRACT POND

Last year, this picture snagged an Honorable Mention at Altamont.  Why I didn’t enter this picture in other competitions is completely beyond my knowledge.  Maybe I don’t know a good thing when I photograph one.  Ha.

Anyways, this picture will certainly get plenty of exposure (you saw what I did there), as it has already appeared at the Albany Center Galleries’ Northeastern Home Show exhibition at the arena.

This will be framed at 18×24 size.

BEECHER CREEK FALLS

Yep, that flowing, gauzy water in the last days of winter has claimed some love and will hang at the Treadwell Center.  Nice.

And now, for the first time in any exhibition…

FALLING SKYWARD

Wow.  I’ve barely owned the Krasnogorsk FT-2 camera for a month, and already one of its pictures has been accepted into a show.  Sweet.

I’ve actually decided to frame this entry “long,” as it will be my first natural panoramic shot (i.e., shot “in camera” rather than stitched or cropped) to ever enter a competition.

So I’m busy getting these images printed and matted and framed – wow, I haven’t worked with an ultra-wide photo since Night Train to Heaven, but I’m not complaining.  And considering that Star Trails of Brown Tract Pond and Beecher Creek Falls are still getting some love, gives me some thoughts for photos for the upcoming “competition season.”

This is good.  Feeling good today.  Even if I have to dig my car out of an igloo.

Let’s keep this feeling going for a while, shall we?  Yes?
