Today is a very somber day for me. After attending my Aunt Dolores’ funeral yesterday in Delmar – which was emotional in and of itself – I received word that one of my beloved teachers at Street Academy, Ahmed Naqi, entered eternal rest. His services will be held today at the Masjid As-Salam Mosque on 276 Central Avenue, services beginning at 1:15 p.m.
Even with all that in mind, I don’t want any of my fellow Times Union community bloggers to miss out on this Thursday recap feature. They deserve your attention, so let me step aside and showcase their work for you. I hope you enjoy their posts.
Their articles this week include:
- Peter Bowden in the “Gardening” blog, “Summer is scissor season.” (Read this first.)
- Nicole M. Arciello in the Animal Rights blog, “Three dead horses in one Saratoga day.“
- Byrgen Finkelman in the Transgender blog, “Please buy the Brooklyn Bridge.“
- Mary Martin’s “A Good Enough Life” blog, “It’s that time again . . .” (Hey Mary… you’re going to need a bigger boat.)
- David Kalish in the “Ruminator” blog, “Special on aisle 5 at Price Chopper: Confusion.“
- Assemblyman Jim Tedisco’s blog, “Where’s the plan to make Schenectady safer?“
- Rob Hoffman in the “Hoffman Files” blog, “Appreciating Howard Stern.“
- Roger Green’s “Information Without the Bun” blog, “Times Union 8 years – no raises, no respect.“
- Brian Huba’s “Cat’s Pajamas” blog, “Unhappy Valley.“
- Sara Rose Wheeler’s “Roaring Twenties” blog, “3 years later.“
I hope you enjoy this week’s collection of community blogs from the TU’s energetic and dedicated community bloggers.
And if you get a chance today, say a prayer for those who have passed, whether recently or if they are still in your thoughts and memories. All the best.
I’m so sorry for this difficult time in your life. Sending prayers of peace and comfort.
