Leica Green meets Autumn Brown

I know the snow is coming.

I know the temperatures are dropping.

But before the colorful leaves fall from the tree branches…

I had to get a few more shots before autumn faded away.

With that, I recruited my gifted Leica M3 camera (“Leica Green”) and snapped a few remaining autumnal shots with Kodak Gold 400 film.  I started last Sunday with a few shots in the Adirondacks, and then on Monday I took a few pictures through the hill towns and farmlands of the Capital District, and snapped a few shots, this time using Kodak Gold 400 film.

Here, let me share.

Sadly, I think that many of the photos I captured over the weekend have lost their dramatic, colorful hue of autumn leaves.  I’m not sure how I felt about that – I did get one decent shot a few weeks ago, The Saratoga and North Creek Railroad, but I really wanted more photos.  I truly did.

Okay, so I’m greedy.  I want all my photos to be their best.

But I also want to show that emotion in my pictures, the beauty and the wonder and the perspective.  It’s out there, I can find it.

Winter is around the corner.

I don’t know how many more winters I’ll have in my lifetime.  I’m already drifting toward the winter OF my lifetime.  That’s a scary thought.  The winter of my lifetime.

I’m not ready for that.

I’m not even sure that I WILL be ready for that.

But I keep telling myself, even when I won’t listen to myself…

There is still time.  The next great adventure is just around the corner.  Maybe it will happen today.  Or next week.  Or five years from now.

I’ll be ready for it.

I may be entering the winter of my lifetime…

But autumn is still around now.

And I’ll hold onto autumn for as long as I possibly can.

As long as I possibly can.

As long as I can.

As I can.

I can.

And I will.
