K-Chuck Radio: How to Mess with Smash Mouth

There’s an old joke that goes like this.  “If the bands Smash Mouth and Nickelback were trapped on a sinking ship, who would eventually be saved?”  The answer – “My eardrums!”

Ha.

But let’s face it.  One of the most played out songs of the last 15 years has to be Smash Mouth’s “All Star.”  You know, their only hit if you don’t count “Walking on the Sun” or “I’m a Believer” or any other track that didn’t involve a Shrek movie.

And with that in mind, here’s “All Star” for your listening – er – enjoyment.

Boy, I forgot how bad that Mystery Men movie was.

Now recently, I’ve come across a remix of Smash Mouth’s “All Star” in which every single note is tuned to middle C.  Turns it almost into a lazy rap song, if you ask me.  Here it that version.

And if you can’t remember the first words of the song, here’s a version where the entire track is just that first word.  Somebody took a long time to come up with this one, somebody did…

This version has all the words in reverse, so if you’re a Twin Peaks fan, or if you’re looking for backwards masking subliminal messages, this is for you.

And you can have a version of this song with all the words in alphabetical order …

Or, if you’re feeling like a really true wordsmith… how about a version with all the words in order of their Scrabble tile value?

Are you a Disney movies fan?  Check out this version, in which the Disney characters basically recite the lyrics to “All Star.”

And I’m sure that somewhere in a New York City high-rise, a 70-year-old orange-skinned goblin is practicing his karaoke moves with this song…

And there’s this version, in which any time the lead singer uses the word “the,” the video gets faster.  It’s over before you know it!

I dunno… some of these versions actually make the track sound better, but of course your mileage may vary… 😀
