My entries for the 45th Annual Photo Regionals are …

The Capital District Photo Regionals are the pre-eminent photo salon in this area. Sometimes the show features selected artists; other times it’s a “call for entries.” This year is a “call for entries.”

And I’m already preparing my entries for call. 😀

Over the past decade, five of my artworks have reached the walls of the Photo Regionals, which makes me quite happy. These were my five past Photo Regionals display pieces.

After the Rain and Five Tickets to Ride Day and Night also received Honorable Mention at the show, so I’m happy for that.

But now comes the big deal. Which of my images from the past few years do I feel is worthy enough for display?

And this time around, I had to make some brutal cuts. I took out the lunar eclipse collage The View From Screven County, just so I can enter something else. I thought about Atomic Tulips and Bennington County 15F and a couple of others … and instead … decided …

These will be my three entrants this year.

WE SERVE WAYWARD STRANGERS

We Serve Wayward Strangers. Kodak Medalist II camera, Efke 820 infrared film, with Wratten R78 filter. Photo (c) Chuck Miller, all rights reserved.

This actually has received plenty of success outside of the three red ribbons it earned during Competition Season 2022. It made the walls of the New Jersey International show, as well as an appearance at the Long Island show earlier this year. A copy of the artwork also sold at BUILT last year. So I feel the artwork earned its stripes.

RAN OUT OF FIREWOOD

I’m going with the lenticular version of this print, so that when people walk by it, they’ll either see the tree … or it will fade away. This is what I call a fun idea.

I would have entered a third artwork, but there were some sizing and spacing issues and I could not find a third piece that would comfortably fit within the total sizing limits. So two images it is.

So here’s how this works. I bring my artwork over to Albany Center Gallery next month, and for a few days both pieces will display on the walls. Then the judges will come in, make their decisions, and … well … we will see how things turn out.

Crossing fingers.
