In 2021, during my second run as an on-air talent at my old college radio station WHCL, I slapped together a musical collage of 1970’s hits, all soldered to the Incredible Bongo Band’s track “Bongolia!” It was named in honor and in memory of a wonderful professor I knew in college, Samuel Pellman. I don’t know if you’ve heard the “Bongolia” mix on my show, but if you haven’t, the link for the song itself is below.
Last year, I tried this again. I mixed several classic 1950’s and 1960’s tracks together – and spackled them to an instrumental version of the Strangeloves’ track “Cara-Lyn.” It’s a nice little stomper, if you ask me.
Tomorrow night, on the Nightowl Radio Show, I’m sharing the broadcast premier of my third Pellman remix. This time, I took several tracks that you would find on your album-oriented-rock station (think PYX 106) and glued them to the thumping Motown Funk Brothers sound. It’s a blend of everything from the Rolling Stones to Kansas, from the White Stripes to Nirvana, and it’s called the “Uptight” mix (Sam Pellman Edition).
And if you want to hear this before it debuts this Friday night…
Click the link below. I gotcha covered.
This is Uptight – the Sam Pellman Mix.
Yeah, this is what happens when I get “creative” in my old age. 😀
And hey, it’s a great addition to the broadcast catalogue.
Nothing wrong with that.
Man, these are awesome! Thanks for sharing.
