Yep, still trying to get that perfect super-ultra-panorama shot. And not having the success I want.
Last October, I went to Glass Lake in Averill Park, hoping to capture the fall foliage off of this crystal-clear lake. Again … hoping to. But there’s one thing about Glass Lake. Almost the entire perimeter of the lake is private property. And there’s very little available parking for anyone who doesn’t already live in Averill Park.
No matter. I set up the tripod, attached the panoramic head to the Rolleiflex, and hoped for a miracle.
The Rollei gave me twelve shots total, so I did two six-frame passes.
Film came back from the developers. And I loaded the six images into PhotoShop and …
PhotoShop crashed. It barfed. It puked. It hurled the rainbow scream.
Nuts. I can’t have the program spasm like this. I need some power out of this.
Okay. Plan B. I lined up every single frame … tried to match the overlapping frames as closely as possible …
And this came out.

Well, I have some color … and the signs on either side of the panorama are a nice touch …
But that vertical banding in the sky – caused by trying to align two images together manually since PhotoShop couldn’t handle it electronically – ruins the image. Ugh.
Toss this. Right now, the panorama I have of the Boreas Ponds is the front-runner, with the other three panos looking like meat loaf at a steakhouse.
I have to try harder.
Seriously.
