So I’m still in the hospital. The plan was to have a final foot surgery on Monday, but at the last minute, my surgery was postponed until Tuesday. GRRRR
And until I have that final foot surgery, I’m stuck here in the hospital. And I’m frustrated. I want to go home.
That being said … thanks to the Super Bowl on Sunday, Saratoga Harness moved their trotter races from Sunday to Monday. And guess who’s in the eighth race on Monday afternoon.
Yep. Pay Me To Knight, also known unofficially as Junior.
Now Junior didn’t have a great race last week, but this time he seems to be in a better pool of horses. Junior had the morning line odds-on favorite at 2-1, which remained the favorite at 6-5 by post time. There’s some tough competition in the mix this week, so let’s see. As per the rules of this blog, I’m putting $20 on Junior’s nose and hoping for the best.
At the start of the race, Junior grabbed third place, just a length or two behind two other fast horses, Mark of a Beast and Pappy Go Go.
At the halfway mark, Junior made his move. He went to the outside lane, drifting past Pappy Go Go and moving up, bit by bit, on the 5-1 leader, Mark of a Beast.
Down the stretch … here he comes … and Pay Me To Knight – Junior – moves to the lead, and wins the race by half a length. 1:58:1 was the time.

And that $20 bet on Junior’s nose turned into $47 in my pocket. I’ve made up from last week’s losses, and I’m +$7 for Junior’s 2024 racing year.
Let’s keep this going.
