I’ll sing FREE BIRD on the way out.

Update on my hospital situation.

If all goes well today … I should be on my way home later today.

But this doesn’t mean I’m back in the pink yet.

Because of the infection in my left foot that ended up spurring all this other medical crap … I underwent a debridement of damaged and decayed tissue. This will require something called a wound vac to close up my foot, and I’ll need to wear this device for a few weeks.

This will also necessitate, for the first time in my life, regular home visits from a nursing team. I’m definitely not used to this idea – but I’ll have to learn HOW to get used to it. Healing right now is the most important thing.

And once I get home … I think I’ll be in a much better frame of mind. I really hope so. These last few weeks have been mentally devastating and emotionally pummeling. Let’s hope that I can get back in the swing as soon as possible.

But I need a special shout-out and thanks to all my blog readers, all of you who posted on my blog and who messaged me privately. It’s kept my spirits going as much as possible.

And yeah … the minute I leave this hospital, I’m gonna start singing like Ronnie Van Zandt at the Oakland Coliseum in 1977 at the top of my lungs.
