The TV show South Park has its own distinct animation style. The whole show looks like it was animated with paper cutouts. Okay, back in the early years it WAS animated that way, even though the show today is totally computer-generated, but still …
What if the show went in the OTHER direction, and we somehow were blessed with a live-action hyper-realistic 1950’s-era version of South Park? Balderdash, you say.
I got news for you. By the spirit of Mr. Hankie, I say heidie-ho… and take a look at this.
This guy actually created a computer-generated version of the classic cartoon … and stuffed it into something that could have played at the local Panavision theater back in the 1950’s.
And if you think what he did with South Park was impressive …
Here’s his take on The Simpsons.
And if I can get past the totally-hyper-realistic of the Cyclops-gazed Leela, here’s what this guy did with Futurama. All this thing needs is the BR-9 robot and a scantily-clad Anne Francis, and it looks remarkably like the outtakes for the classic Forbidden Planet.
Okay, let’s admit it. There can’t be a 1950’s-era take on Family Guy, right? Right? RIGHT?!?
What the deuce …
And I have to tell you … this guy’s not the only person re-creating animated and computer-generated films as Super Panavision 70 classics.
Take this take, for example, on last year’s Barbie movie.
And when some creators get inspired … you could have dueling X-Men movies from the 1950’s. Complete with rubber costumes and wonky eyebrows.
Versus …
And although I looked all over the internet in the hopes of finding a Super Panavision 70 re-creation of the classic 1960’s puppet TV series Thunderbirds – and found none – the best I could recover was this Super Panavision 70 recreation of what a 1950’s era Transformers movie would look like.
Okay, okay. One more. Because this stuff is hilarious. By the power of Greyskull …
And that’s it for today’s blog … no, I can’t do it. I’m already falling down the rabbit hole.
Falling, falling, falling …
Damn, this rabbit hole is mighty deep …
Yeah, I’m too far down the rabbit hole. Check back with me tomorrow. Maybe. 😀
This is so cool! Thank you for sharing! 😀
