Let’s get a few things straight before I dive into the meat of this blog post.
Political violence of ANY sort against ANY elected official is not acceptable for any reason. I don’t care if you like Trump or hate him, I don’t care if you like Biden or despise him – no one has the right to take another human’s life. Straight up. No.
And the shithead who did fire a semi-automatic AR-15-style rifle at Trump’s rally in western Pennsylvania got what he deserved – he was taken out as quickly as he fired. No and’s, if’s or buts.
And prayers for the family of the 50-year-old firefighter who shielded his daughters by putting his body in front of one of the assassin’s bullets. Let his memory of service be a blessing to us all.
That being said … apparently the right-wing nutjobs in Congress and in right-wing public forums are losing their collective minds.
Let’s start with the usual bugaboo from right-wing media – the alleged boogeyman of all things they don’t like, the nebulous organization Antifa.

Guess what, dimbulb. The shooter was a 20-year-old white male Republican. Which, last time I checked, didn’t check off many boxes on the Antifa job application form.
And speaking of dimbulbs … guess who crawled out of the cave to make her own statement on the assassination attempt.

Geez, I thought her social media accounts were taken off that site. Oh, wait. I forgot. New ownership. Especially since Margie seemed to suggest it was acceptable to attack the families of your political rivals, so long as they’re Democrats, right?
The chisel-head who bought Twitter and turned it into a cesspool had to get in his two cents worth. Like his opinion is worth that much.
And of course, Senator Mike Lee had to extol Trump’s “Superman” image, that he could take a bullet and then go golfing the next day. And when others called out that the video Mike Lee posted was from a golf trip BEFORE the attempted assassination … Lee kept the video up, because, you know, optics and propaganda.

Oh, and there’s this gadfly Laura Loomer, who has to be dumber than a bag of wet mice, because why not throw in a disgusting R-word slur while you’re spouting “monitor courage” vitriol?

And let’s get to Tomi Lahren. Lahren, a blatherwit talking head on Fox News and other outlets, came up with this little social media post after the attempted assassination.

So God intervened to save Trump’s life, by letting a firefighter die? Was that God’s will too, Tomi?
I guess it must be so, because one of the Sunday morning tele-evangelists – who might not have seen the part in the Bible about worshiping false idols – came up with this bon mot.

Oh my God, they shot him, Kenny! You Bastard!!
Sorry, couldn’t resist.
Again, let me fully reiterate what I said earlier. Political violence of any sort is wrong. The use of a semi-automatic AR-15-style rifle in the hands of a civilian to shoot and terrorize civilians is wrong and disgusting, and Thomas Matthew Crooks got what he deserved. Fuck him all the way to whatever waits for him in the afterlife.
But I just want to add one more thing. This whole “God works in mysterious ways, look, he saved Trump’s life” is disingenuous when you consider that the people equating God with providing some sort of holy force field over the orange goblin have nothing to say when innocent people are slaughtered by madmen with their own radicalized, twisted, disgusting goals.
I’ll just leave this here.

My trepidation regarding the potential re-election of Trump stems from the fact that he functions as a mere marionette for The Heritage Foundation, an organization that aims to dismantle decades of political progress. Their extensive guidebook for 2025 outlines numerous proposals, including ones to abolish LGBTQ protections and restrict access to contraception. My most profound fear is that they might render hormone replacement therapy illegal, as it is frequently utilized for gender-affirming care. Such a move would have catastrophic implications for me, as an intersex individual whose body does not produce sufficient hormones without medical support.
One must also consider the egregious oversight by the Secret Service in allowing a rooftop to remain unguarded and outside the secure perimeter. This negligence further exacerbates my concerns about the current secret service administration’s competence and intentions.
It is beyond my comprehension how anyone can endorse Trump, who is essentially a puppet for a fascist entity. I earnestly wish that people would channel their discontent through the power of their vote to remove unfit leaders from office, rather than resorting to violence, which is both unacceptable and morally wrong.
On a side note, I found the South Park reference delightful. 🙂

Obviously Trump hired the shooter for a to-be-thwarted ‘assassination attempt’ to increase his political standing with the right-wing crowd. Now he is a martyr! All hail Trump! He probably promised the dim-witted shooter millions of dollars, which as with all his debts he never would have paid, and lucked out by the quick action of the Secret Service taking the assailant down so the truth can never come out.
(Well if they’re going to make up dumb-ass conspiracy theories ….)
