Yesterday, I took a walk around the Town and Village. It’s another test of my infrared-modified Nikon Df camera, and I figured I’d try to get a few more choice shots in that might be worth submitting for that Kolari Vision infrared competition.
And as I turned the corner – looking for various trees and foliage to shoot – one of the local dogs ran up to a fence and barked excitedly at me. Oh, great. Just what I need. Some poor soul is sleeping late on Sunday, and their dog decides to bark at the passers-by and wake his master up.
Well, I got news for you, Fido. I’m going to take your picture. And I’m going to capture you in an infrared hue.
Ready – aim – fire.

So here’s the thing. Infrared photography works best on foliage. Plants, trees, grass, shrubs, bushes. Apparently it does NOTHING for metal fences. And it does NOTHING for pit bulls. Or for other dogs. But at least this guy sat still long enough to let me capture him in infrared.
And yeah … I sent it to the Kolari Vision competition. I mean, why not? How can you go wrong with a photo of a cute doggo like that? Who’s a good boy? You’re a good boy, aren’t you?
