Yesterday, I took the cameras up to Essex County in the Adirondacks for a little photo shoot. Nothing completely out of the ordinary, I just wanted to see if I could get some foliage shots and some other natural phenomena.
And lo and behold … the Adirondacks were open. Well, at least as open as this photo next to a pizzeria/brewery off Exit 29 of the Northway claimed.

There was some foliage coverage available, but it looked like the foliage was either a couple of days prior to peak, or a couple of days past peak. But I made do with what I could capture.
Such as this little tree in Schroon Lake that seemed to possess half-foliage.

This set of trees was next to the lake, and I walked down to the shore to see if there was anything interesting available. Come on, give me something.
And there it was. A seagull perched on top of a light pole.

I mean … okay … it’s a seagull. And he’s just perched there, minding his own business, probably looking for someone to drop a Cheeto on the ground so he can snack on it.
But I had an idea. If that seagull stays put … and if I slowly walk over to another part of the beach … and I keep my camera trained on that seagull … and if I can get that foliage I took earlier into the frame …
Well, it took a few moments of careful repositioning on my part, but I snagged this image.

And then … all of a sudden … the birdie opened its mouth. I don’t know if it was yawning or silently shouting or what … but I caught the picture. A little boost with the color highlights, a crop here, a tint there … and …

You know what? It’s never too late to start a folder for Competition Season 2025.
Yeah. Never too late. 😀
