I’ve used Revolog’s boutique textured film in the past. It’s a fun film to work with, as you can combine your photography skills with a little chance and a little luck – to get incredible images.
Revolog pre-treats their film with everything from little spots to electrical fractals to textures, and those get transferred onto the final image. This, for example, is a photo that was taken with Revolog’s “Tesla 2” lightning-strike film.

The lightning strikes were already on the film; I captured the image at precisely this spot on the film strip, not knowing precisely where the strikes would interact with the finished image.
While clearing out some old boxes, I discovered that I still had five rolls of boutique Revolog film in my possession – film under the names “Volvox,” “Snowvlox,” “Kosmos,” “Plexus” and “Lazer.”
You know what? I’ve got an idea.
During my trip to the New York State Fair, I packed some Revolog film, along with my Nikon F2s (“Nikon Athena”) camera and a 55mm f/1.2 lens. The goal? Let’s take as many photos as possible with these designer rolls, and see if there’s an image or three or four that would stand out from all the rest. You know … something worthy of Competition Season 2025.
Here’s an example of some of the film shot. These shots were created with Revolog Kosmos film, which adds little blue sparkles to the photos. You don’t know where the sparkles will land, that’s the magic and mystery of Revolog boutique film.
I mean … it works … kinda …
I’ll probably need to try something else in the future.
In other words – this works … but it just isn’t working for me.
Next time, though.

Oh, the magic you wield.
And here I thought you threw caution to the wind and shorted out the mission’s breaker box to get that sign shot. Chance and luck, indeed.
