I could have written today’s blog post about the vile swill that happened at New York City’s Madison Square Garden yesterday. I could have written about the vulgar and reprehensible jokes and insults against Hispanics and against people of color and against (fill in the blank).
Other people can write about such things.
I want today’s post to focus on Reese Burkhardt.
Reese Burkhardt is a fourth-year senior on the Texas Tech football team. He’s a kicker. And during a game Saturday against TCU, Burkhardt executed a fake field goal attempt, then ran the ball in for a touchdown. Great. Texas Tech scores, takes a 14-3 lead.
And then Reese Burkhardt pulled up his football jersey and pulled down his inner shirt … to reveal a message on his undershirt.
Yeah. That kind of message.

Aw, bless your little heart. You had to show off your political leanings in front of a nationally televised audience. And since it’s a shout-out to Donald Trump and to the MAGA chuds, apparently it’s considered okay. Not by me, but then again, I don’t operate the NCAA.
So we now go to the final moments of the game. Texas Tech is down by one point, 35-34, after a strong TCU rally to give the Horned Frogs the lead. But Texas Tech tried to set up the game-winning field goal – only to fumble it away and lose the match, 35-34.
The one-point loss was made more poignant because although Texas Tech converted two field goals from kicker Gino Garcia … Burkhardt clanged his one field goal attempt. Which could have provided Texas Tech with a two-point victory – instead of a one-point loss.
Oopsie.
No matter, I guess. Reese Burkhardt can now do an appearance run of every conservative podcast and chat show for the next week or two. Soak up those 15 minutes of infamy. Whoop dee doo, you showed off that you’re part of the MAGA cult.
I’m sure that’s going to look really attractive in the NFL draft.
But hey … you be you, Reese. Instead of pulling up your shirt, you should have pulled up the points.
Karma, bee yotch.
Yes, karma sure is.
Just ask the Bears’ Tyrique Stevenson, who I believe will be starting his book on the subject today.
You know, the guy with his head up his ass, busy messing with the crowd, who virtually handed the winning Hail Mary touchdown pass to the Commanders last night.
Talk about an NFL film clip that will never go away…
