We’ve got macro photos this year. We’ve got Holiday Train photos this year. We’ve got a photo that took 93,000,000 miles to get to here.
So … let’s share, shall we?
What we have in today’s blog post are the ten photos that either won awards in Competition Season for me, or that I feel still deserve plenty of love.
And let’s start out with …
HOW GOD SEES AN ECLIPSE

If you think that for one solitary moment I’m letting this image not lead off my “Best Photos of 2024,” you’re mistaken. This was an incredible preparation and capture, and an adventure that I will never forget.
BE pREPAIRED

My excursion into digital “still life” photography, encompassing my new-to-me Nikkor medical lens equipment. Fun stuff.
CPKC IN SHERBROOKE

I’ve heard people say that I will travel 300 miles just to take a picture. Let’s get things clear. I only traveled 294 miles from Albany to Sherbrooke for this little image. ๐
17 JEWEL MOVEMENT

A horologist is a fancy term for a watch repairman, and I’m sure there is a horologist out there who can appreciate this movement and all the shiny detail it encompasses.
THE SACANDAGA RIVER CROSSING

Gotta show some love for my infrared-modified Nikon Df camera, for sure. And this photo still is one of my personal infrared favorites.
AUTUMN IN NORTHFIELD

Yeah, covered bridges with fall foliage are awesome. That goes without saying. I mean, can you really argue with this? Didn’t think so.
CAN YOU HEAR ME NOW?

I’m definitely keeping this image in the back pocket for Competition Season 2025. I mean, how can you not?
KATIE DAVIS

Sometimes you can get the photo at just the right instant … when the jockey happens to ride between the lights and the horse arrives in the winner’s circle. See? I can do that, too.
ROMANCE AT THE RAILROAD CONCERT

I’m not going to argue with CPKC if they think this was one of the best Holiday Train photos of the year for them. No sir ree.
WIN-PLACE-SHOW 5-5-5

This little infrared photo was snagged at the harness track, and was an attempt to create a stitched collage of a horse that was so far ahead of everybody else, he philosophically lapped the field twice. Ha.
And those were ten of my best photos for the year. Now I have to raise the bar for 2025.
And you certainly know I will make that happen.
Trust me on this.
congrats!
