I tell you, every time I go to YouTube, their algorithms try to pitch me on anything and everything. I could link a YouTube clip to my blog on item “X”, and the next time I visit YouTube, I’ll see 15 recommended videos about item “X”.
And their recommendations can be quite maddening. Almost like someone trying to read my mind by guessing – poorly – what I’m looking at on YouTube.
That being said … this time YouTube may have gotten it right.
And I’m actually contemplating adding this channel to my blogroll.
I definitely enjoy a good Mystery Science Theater 3000 episode. Two hours of watching a cheezy movie with snarky comments from Tom Servo, Crow T Robot, and (Joel / Mike / Jonah / whoever the new girl is) can get me through even the most dreary of days. I kid you not.
Well, this new YouTube channel purports to examine the history and culture and importance of Mystery Science Theater 3000. The channel’s name? HISTORY Science Theater 3000. And here’s the trailer.
Not bad. Photo with Joel, Tom Servo and Crow in the background, the girl’s wearing a Gizmonics speedsuit, yeah she certainly knows how this works.
And since this trailer caught my attention, let’s see what the channel’s first review episode will be. Oh, it’s “The Green Slime,” the pilot episode that began the whole adventure. I mean, this episode is so low-budget, you could have paid for it with couch-cushion change.
Okay. So here’s our girl Zoe’s riff on the original riffable episode.
So, I’m looking forward to the next episode of this video series … but it may take a while before we get it. Seems … um … someone dropped a Tom Servo prop. Was that a Wilhelm Scream I just heard?
Well … when Servo gets repaired, I’m sure we’ll have a new episode of History Science Theater 3000.
So what say you, blog readers? Shall I add this channel to the blogroll? What do you think?
I will absolutely be watching this on YouTube! Not only was this show a part of my childhood, but Zoe is actually cute, too! Thanks for sharing! 😀
