I realize that in 2025, starting any conversation with the topic “The Fediverse” is akin to starting any conversation with the topic “NFT’s” or “cryptocurrency” or asking if there’s a new printing of The Watchtower.
But bear with me on this.
Of late, I’ve joined up with the social platform Mastodon, and I’m also sharing my photos on the social media platform Pixelfed. And I’m doing this because I’m getting really tired of legacy social media sites feeding me info I DON’T want to see, and restricting information I DO want to see. I’m also sick of the advertisements, the targeted messages, and the inconsistent rules.
In other words, it’s one of the reasons I left Twitter / X, and it’s another reason why Facebook and Instagram, for me, are currently on – shall we say – borrowed time.
Now it’s hard for me to explain the Fediverse to my blog readers – who, I will admit, are smarter and more cognizant than yours truly – so, I thought I’d just share this explanation video. You can watch it if you wish, or you could wait until I post something on tomorrow’s blog. Your choice.
As for me … I’m going to leave this here.
If this is what’s called trying to “hijack” a blog…my apologies. But it seemed like it might sorta fit, so I thought I’d try to slip it past your censors and moderators.
I encourage everyone to search for this online: “define and compare AI, AGI and ASI.”
(AI = Artificial intelligence, AGI = Artificial General Intelligence, and ASI = Artificial Superintelligence.)
I found this site to be informative, understandable and non biased: https://aistacked.com/ai-vs-agi-vs-asi-a-comprehensive-guide/ But I get it if you’re not comfortable clicking on it, so the search will offer several more.
The progression of AI appears to be what I can only call a seamless given – almost like the four years of high school education necessary for graduation. And none of its future applications are pooh-poohed as outlandish fantasy, or “not in OUR lifetime” concepts. Rather, future enhancements are simply deemed “hypothetical” at this point, while acknowledging the “rapidly evolving landscape of AI.”
I won’t editorialize here, you can draw your own conclusions. I’ll just recommend that you brace yourselves.

I have been enjoying Mastodon. On Twitter, All Over Albany seemed to brought a lot of local people together and they all seemed to follow each other. It was a nice group. I know of a handful of local people on Mastodon, but not nearly what used to be on Twitter (no idea what’s there now) or is currently on Instagram (which looks to be going the way of Twitter). Anyhow, there’s a good crowd on Mastodon. My advice would be to spend a little time picking an instance. My original instance is closing shop (not enough locals joined) so I had to switch. I have joined the beige party instance. Fun group of people.
