What’s Up in the Neighborhood, February 15 2025

So we have a confluence of holidays at the moment. Yesterday was Valentine’s Day, where we honor the patron saint of little candy hearts and last-minute trips to the grocery store to purchase the last wilted roses. This Monday is Presidents’ Day, where because the confluence of February-birthed presidents George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, Ronald Reagan and William Henry Harrison, we get a day off on the third Monday of the month (which, surprisingly, coincides with “Family Day” in Canada, where they don’t have Presidents, but they have lots of families).

And Sunday is another holiday, it’s celebrated in Florida and it’s called the Daytona 500. I used to celebrate Daytona 500 Day, but that was back when the celebrants included Ward Burton, Ricky Rudd, and Alan Kulwicki. You know … back in ancient times. When they raced Pontiacs and Buicks and Union 76 fuel and all that.

Damn, I’m old.

Well, while those holidays are celebrated, let’s celebrate the Saturday holiday – that being when I go through the blogroll and find the great articles by my wonderful bloggers and photographers.

Have a great weekend, everybody!
