NY Phoenix improve to 5-0, Albany Patroons go to 4-1 in TBL season

So how about we update the reports and standings on the Capital District’s two TBL pro basketball franchises, shall we?

Let’s start with the currently unbeaten New York Phoenix, who improved over the weekend to 5-0. They took a close 87-86 road win over the Connecticut Crusaders on March 15 to remain unbeaten. I’d link the box score from the TBL website, but all they have on the site is the score itself, no individual player points or stats as of yet. Hopefully the TBL site will update that.

Then last Friday night, the Phoenix burned their way through another road game, this time against the winless Reading Rebels 122-95 in front of 75 fans at Reading’s home facility. Actually, I CAN link that game from the TBL site, here’s that link. The Phoenix were paced with seven different players scoring in double figures, while backup Quadir Welton knocked out a double-double of 12 points and 11 rebounds. The Phoenix arrived in Reading a replacement for the Rochester Kingz, and the lezz zed about the Kingz, the better.

Meanwhile, the Albany Patroons kept pace with the Phoenix by claiming their own road victory against the Connecticut Crusaders on Sunday, 123-111. Again, I’d like to link the box score to this game, so that I can tell you who were the high scorers and how everybody did in the game … but, unfortunately, this game is ALSO not on the TBL website as of the time of this blog post. Hmm … two victories against the Connecticut Crusaders in their home arena, and we don’t have box scores from those games on the TBL site? You know … I’m not asking questions here … but I am asking questions.

Be that as it may … the Phoenix and the Patroons are still dominating the standings, and both will have simultaneous home games this coming Friday night, both with 7:00 p.m. tip-offs. The Phoenix will try to improve to 6-0 when they face the Rochester Kingz at Armory Studios NY, while the Patroons will host the winless Reading Rebels at the Washington Avenue Armory. Reading will then travel to Schenectady so that the Phoenix can whomp them again. Because, yeah.

After those games, the Patroons and the Phoenix will face each other in the second of their four regular season head-to-head matchups on Friday, April 4 at 7:00 p.m. in Schenectady. That game promises to be a classic.

Trust me on this.
