Holy crap, is this the new TRON: Ares trailer??

You can have your “machine with a soul” movies like Ghost in the Shell or The Matrix. Or even old episodes of the Saturday morning TV show ReBoot. That’s fine. Enjoy them.

But for me, the concept of humans interacting with a world of artificial intelligence has to begin and end with TRON. I saw the 1982 original Disney film while I was in college, and saw the 2010 sequel TRON: Legacy at a first-night showing. Granted, TRON films have the same release frequency as Boston albums, but when they are released, they are magnificent.

And with that in mind – 15 years after TRON: Legacy and over 40 years after the original TRON, we’re finally getting a third film. FINALLY.

This is the trailer for TRON: Ares, which premieres in October. And I can not wait to see it. Especially if the characters from the computer world are now operating in our physical space. With light cycles. That emit trails of impenetrable light energy.

Oh my God. Oh my God oh my God oh my ever loving God this is real. This isn’t some goony AI-generated “Super 70 Panavision” trailer that someone generated on YouTube.

They’ve got light cycles. And they’ve got Space Paranoids. Repeat after me. THEY’VE GOT SPACE PARANOIDS FLYING AROUND IN THE REAL WORLD!!!

Okay. Deep breath, Miller. Bring your blood pressure down from TILT level.

Now I just need to know one more thing. One more thing. IS JEFF BRIDGES IN THIS MOVIE??

Because Jeff Bridges was in the first film. And he appeared in the second one. But he’s moved on to bigger and better things in his life. There’s no way he would come back and make the third TRON film again, would he??

Okay. Blocking out the calendar. October 10, 2025. TRON: Ares. Although there will most likely be showings the night before, so I gotta get those tickets. And avoid all the spoilers.
