Frieda Tillman was one of my first connections in high school. She was my first true friend, and we remained friends throughout our high school years. We took many classes together, we participated in several extracurricular activities together, and we were both champions on the WRGB Answers Please quiz show from 1981.
On Monday, I received the tragic news form her son. Alfrieda Tillman was now with the angels.

Frieda was a giving person. She helped her family whenever she could, and she was the first one to stand up for someone if they were in trouble. On our conversations in later years, she would tell me, with pride in her voice, about how well her grandson did with his local Little League team, or what was going on with her family at any particular moment in time. She took a part of her universe and made it something beautiful.

Frieda loved to dance. She loved to act. She loved the theater. And she loved music. And in this short moment of time that God has blessed us with upon this earth, Frieda made every second of that time count. No matter what happened to her along the way, even when there were final breaths in her lungs and notes in her mind, she was still as vibrant as that cold 1979 day when we first met and became friends.
She will be missed by all who knew her and to all she loved.
Rest in peace and in love, my friend.
My condolences, Chuck.
