I was at my girlfriend’s house over the weekend. She has a couple of bird feeders in the backyard, and I’ve found that her songbirds absolutely love this super-hot birdseed that’s mixed with hot chili sauce. The birds have no salivary glands, so they just eat the seed like it’s a normal day. But the squirrels in her yard detest the hot seed, and will leave her birdfeeders alone.
Yesterday, I caught this little shot of three American goldfinches snacking on the bird seed. Normally you get one or two birds on the feeder and if you’re quick, you can get a photo before they fly away.
That particular moment, they were only too happy to chow down on the hot seed, and didn’t notice me fumbling for my cell phone camera to capture their morning munch.
I’ll let you guys add the photo caption. Come up with a good one. Make for a great Sunday morning.

Search online for “Coles Flaming Squirrel Seed Sauce” if you want to try mixing your own. 8 oz. treats 30 lbs. of seed.
Available in farm and garden stores. Careful, pretty hot stuff.
