My thoughts on Charlie Kirk

This will be the first, last, and only time I blog about Charlie Kirk.

I blocked him years ago on social media when his abhorrent and vulgar opinions chugged through the algorithms and populated my feed. I didn’t need that kind of bilge in my life. I didn’t need his misogynistic thoughts on women, or his repulsive thoughts on minorities.

That being said, I never wished him to die.

But in this modern world where up is down and left is right, Charlie Kirk is now hailed as a martyr of the MAGA cause. The same man who openly joked after Paul Pelosi was attacked by a hammer-wielding psychopath. The same man who belittled anyone who didn’t pledge blind, unyielding fealty to Donald Trump.

That being said, I never wished him to die.

On this same day, two students at a high school in Colorado were shot and are fighting for their lives, while their assailant turned the gun on himself. Any thoughts or prayers I would have sent to Charlie Kirk, I would send to those two young souls who are currently in critical condition and fighting for their very lives.

That being said, I never wished him to die.

Today, the President ordered all flags flown at half-staff in memory of Charlie Kirk. The New York Yankees paused their baseball game yesterday for a moment of silence, a tribute rarely offered for anyone outside of professional sports.

That being said, I never wished him to die.

And immediately the right-wing harpies are blaming whoever they can for the murder. And there are people on the other side of the aisle, praying that when the killer is caught, it’s not discovered that the killer might be black, or trans, or an immigrant, or all of the above. I mean, 24 years ago this very day, 3,000 men and women were murdered in the 9/11 tragedy, and in the aftermath of that, for a long time prejudice against anyone even remotely Middle Eastern was prevalent and prescient.

That being said, I never wished him to die.

I never wished Charlie Kirk to die. Death is final. There is no coming back from death.

That being said … his name will never be mentioned in my blog ever again.

While I never wished Charlie Kirk to die …

I hate with every fiber of my being how his voice was silenced, and the tools used to silence his voice. Gun violence is NEVER the answer to the problem. NEVER.

And that’s the final words I have on Charlie Kirk.
