Always use a tripod when shooting a church in Aviphot

While I was at the Big E last month, I packed some of my experimental film, and funneled it through my Pentacon Six TL camera. You know … I’m here, why waste the opportunity?

The Big E has a section called Storrowtown Village – it’s a retro area with various New England buildings that were taken from their original locations and moved to this one location to create a generic New England community. One of those buildings is an old wooden church that once resided in New Hampshire.

And I took a photo of it with my infrared AGFA Aviphot film. Which was difficult — I didn’t use a tripod (left the thing in the car, wasn’t going to drag it all over the Big E), and the R72 filter on the lens meant I was essentially shooting blind.

But I got this for my efforts … so I’ll take it.

And after the film was developed and scanned … I realized I was an idiot. I should have gone BACK to the car and grabbed the tripod. There is no way I could hold that camera steady for the one second of exposure needed for Aviphot film. Yeah, I screwed up.

But next year, I’ll remember. And I’ll drag that tripod around the Big E like it’s a suitcase at the airport.

That one’s on me. 😦
