If you want Girl Scout cookies this year … buy them from this troop. Please.

Yep, it’s Girl Scout Cookie time. That time when your cousin’s daughter announces she is selling these sweet treats, and your cousin hands you a flyer and asks how many Thin Mints or Do-Si-Dos you want to purchase. And then you go to work, and your administrative assistant has her niece’s flyer in the common break room, “gently encouraging” co-workers to pick up some Samoas or Trefoils.

Recently, Girl Scout troops have expanded the purchasing power to the internet, as troops can now submit online requests for cookie fans to purchase from their troop or site.

And with that, I want to encourage all of you to consider THIS troop when you get an itch for some of those delicious (and way too sugary for me) snacks.

This is Girl Scout Troop number 58515, from Minneapolis. And here’s the link to their cookie purchase website.

“We are a Minneapolis 2nd grade Brownie Troop of 12 including trans and neurodiverse youth and 75% BIPOC kids. We want to go to summer camp and try horseback riding! During the current ICE occupation we need your support more than ever. In place of in person sales, we are leaning into handwritten thank you cards from online sales. Please help us make the world a better place, one cookie at a time!”https://digitalcookie.girlscouts.org/scout/troop58515c477

I looked over the current cookie offerings. They’ve got the new “Exploremores,” which apparently have a mixture of chocolate, marshmallows and almond creme. And they’ve also got the usual snacks – Trefoils, Samoas, Lemonades, Thin Mints …

And it’s for a good cause. These kids deserve the opportunity to ride horses and go to camp. They don’t deserve to live in fear.

And let’s face it. You know you want those tasty cookies.

That way, when so-and-so shoves that flyer under your nose and asks you how many boxes you want to purchase, you can smile and say, “Sorry, I already purchased from another Girl Scout troop earlier.” And all will work out. ๐Ÿ˜€
