A new competition(s) for Competition Season 2026

I hadn’t initially thought about the Saratoga County Fair’s photo show. Maybe because I was too busy looking at my other options for my photos.

But after some careful prospectus examination, I decided that this year, I would give this fair a try. One time. One chance. If I liked what happened, if I felt comfortable with my entries, then so be it. If not, then it’s a “one and done” and I’m okay with that as well.

There are nearly two dozen categories for photos in the Saratoga County Fair, and I can enter up to nine images, but no more than one in any specific category. Prints must be framed and ready to hang. Technically, this could give me an opportunity to give some of my other prints from prior years another shot at silk.

Each entry costs $2 per submission, and the prize money is reasonable. And if you want to enter your artwork or other competition-worthy stuffs, go to saratogacountyfair.org for more information.

Here are the specs for the photography category.

And with that in mind … I’m spending the weekend framing up these nine entries.

There you are. These are my nine. I’ll get them printed over the weekend (if they’re not printed already), placed into frames (if they’re not framed already), and have them ready for the Saratoga County Fair.

Now you might wonder … and you might ask me … “Chuck, your headline said ‘competition(s).’ This is one competition. Singular, not plural.”

Yeah, well … after researching the specs for the Saratoga County Fair’s photo competition, I discovered that the Schaghticoke County Fair in Rensselaer County not only uses the same specifications for entries, but they also have a different, later timeframe for their fair (Saratoga County Fair is in July, the Schaghticoke Fair takes place around Labor Day Weekend).

So you just might see some of these artworks in both shows. As well as in the Big E. As well as in Iowa.

And that leaves Altamont and the New York State Fair, and maybe a return to the Durham Fair after a few years away.

This could be a very interesting Competition Season for me.

Let’s make this happen.
