I’ve had wonderful Valentine’s Day memories, and I’ve had dreadful ones. Heck, one time my dreadful memories actually turned into a gift from a glue company. So there’s that.
So with that in mind, I share this little Valentine’s Day promotion. Especially for those times when you’ve found your significant other didn’t treat you with the proper significance. The Animal Rescue League of Iowa has just the answer for that person who treated you poorly and broke your heart. And it doesn’t involve any Krazy Glue.
As part of their TNR (trap, neuter and release) program, the Animal Rescue League of Iowa will, for a small donation on your part, trap a feral cat, spay or neuter it, and then release it back into the wild – along with renaming that cat with the name of your ex.
That’s right. If your man was feeling his oats in the wild, now you can symbolically give him the old “This is what I think of your actions, while still controlling the feral cat population” treatment. Here’s the link to the program. https://www.arl-iowa.org/events/eid/cd45daa37fd3d2aa/events/valentines-day-neuter-your-ex-2025/
You can neuter that cheating Jezebel for as little as $15/cat, or if your personal Rum Tum Tugger was tugging more than the usual rum tums, there’s a package deal to name/neuter 5 exes for $50, or if you’ve got someone with the bedroom morals of Xaviera Hollander, a $100 donation takes care of ten ferals.
And it really doesn’t have to be the name of your ex. Is there someone out there that you’d like to see castrated so they can’t produce any more demon-spawn? Go for it. Silent revenge is a tasty commodity.
Remember that you’re also controlling the pet population with this donation. Anything you can do to help minimize unwanted strays and ferals is a good thing.
And if that neutered stray has a name like “Elon” or “Donald” or “Marjorie” or “RFK Jr.”, who am I to judge? 😀
